Winter School on Organic Chemistry (WSOC-2016) at Lomonosov Moscow State University
Young chemists from ZIOC participated in the Winter School on Organic Chemistry (WSOC-2016) organized by the Organic Chemistry Chair, Department of Chemistry, MSU, on January 16-21. The overall goal of the conference was to make the postgraduates familiar with the latest international advances and trends in chemical research.
The WSOC-2016 included three mini courses delivered by top world scientists: Prof V. Georgyan (University of Chicago, USA) "Semi-stable Intermediates in Synthesis", Prof A. Malkov (Loughborough University, UK) "Asymmetric Organocatalysis: General Overview. Application of Chiral Lewis Bases for Activation of Silicon Reagents", and Prof A. Antonchik (Technical University of Dortmund, Germany) "Metal-Free C-H Bond Functionalization". Leading researchers from Russia , Japan and Ukraine gave 12 plenary lectures. Young chemists made 68 presentations and had 12 posters. V.A. Vil, a postgraduate from ZIOC RAS, was among the competitors for the best presentation and ranked third.
