Zelinsky Institute hosted the Conference “Basic Chemical Research of 21st Century”
The Conference “Basic Chemical Research of 21st Century” supported by the Russian Science Foundation was held on November 20 – 24 2016 at ZOIC RAS. Website: http://chemsci.ru. Conference news and online materials: https://www.facebook.com/ChemSci2016/
It is the first multidisciplinary forum in chemical science focused on high priority research supported by RSF grants. More than 350 grantees from all over Russia participated in the Conference.
ZIOC Director Prof. Mikhail Egorov in his opening address highlighted the most outstanding results of ZIOC activities funded by RSF:
- Stereo and enantioselective synthesis of new nitrogen-oxygen systems – nitrogen oxide donors and semi-products for neuromediators and enzyme inhibitors;
- Bioorganic molecular systems for attaining top priority objectives in medicine and biological and environmental monitoring;
- New organic-inorganic hybrid molecular systems and materials with high-order organization for the catalysis, environmental science and power sector;
- Studying of complex molecular systems and mechanisms of chemical reactions by integrated physicochemical methods.
The Conference program was comprised of three parallel sessions each representing an interdisciplinary mini conference.
Apart from that, the Conference included educational mini courses on subjects such as biomass conversion in the organic synthesis and material science, 3D printing in advanced chemical research and design of chemical equipment and reactors, and electronic microscopy for the state-of-the-art organic chemistry and catalysis.
Those were fantastic days of chemical science. Diverse topics, the multidisciplinary approach and full coverage of research areas – this is modern chemistry. Each presentation was interesting and many of the findings are impressive, — commented the Program Committee Chairman Prof. Valentine P. Ananikov.
