Synfacts about Findings of ZIOC Researchers
Popular edition Synfacts has recently published a feature article “De Novo Synthesis of Polyaryl Salicyl Esters” about the results communicated in Synthesis by a team of researchers from the ZIOC Laboratory of Heterocyclic Compounds.
The team headed by DSc V.Z. Shirinyan developed an original pathway to prepare poly(hetero)aromatic cyclohexenones and phenols (salicylates) where γ-(het)arylsubstituted analogs of acetoacetic ester were used for the first time.
The method enables a synthesis of previously almost unavailable cyclohexenone derivatives, including those photoactive, as well as poly(hetero)aromatic salicylates which are likely to possess diverse biological activity because they are salicylic acid analogs.
