Scientists of the Zelinsky Institute published a review on fluoroalkylation reactions

18 april 2022 г.

Fluorine atoms in organic molecules can dramatically change their physical, chemical, and biological properties. For this reason, organofluorine compounds have received much attention in a number of applied disciplines, such as medicinal chemistry, agrochemistry, and materials science.

Scientists of the Laboratory of Functional Organic Compounds under the guidance of Prof. A.D. Dilman, a leading specialist in the field of organofluorine compounds chemistry, published a review devoted to the formation of carbon-carbon bonds by nucleophilic fluoroalkylation of substances with an allyl fragment. This method of direct introduction of fluorinated groups has become widespread due to the availability of various fluorinated carbanion reagents. The review covers the entire literature in this field, from traditional nucleophilic substitution reactions up to the latest works using transition metal catalysts.
