A novel class of fluorophores was proposed at the ZIOC

26 may 2022 г.

Fluorescent compounds are widely used in various fields of modern science and technology. They are applied in organic electronics, analytical chemistry methods, and biological research. One of the key features of an "ideal" fluorophore is a large Stokes shift, as it separates the excitation and emission bands, which in turn reduces self-quenching and improves the signal-to-noise ratio.

Scientists from the Laboratory of Chemistry of Diazo Compounds of the ZIOC proposed a new fluorophore fragment based on an isoquinolinone derivative. The new class of dyes exhibits a large Stokes shift up to 6519 cm-1 (Δλ up to 130 nm). The researchers also studied in detail how structural modifications affect the absorption and fluorescence properties of such structures, and showed that the nature of relaxation in the excited state lies in the redistribution of bond lengths within the molecule.
