Researchers from the Zelinsky Institute have published a chapter in the book “Heterocycles: Synthesis, Catalysis, Sustainability, and Characterization”

21 july 2022 г.

Heterocyclic compounds occupy an important place in our daily life — they are used in fine organic synthesis, pharmaceuticals, and agriculture. A significant number of natural compounds also contain a heterocyclic fragment. The study of the chemical properties of heterocycles currently continues to be one of the most important areas of organic chemistry.

Researchers from the Laboratory of Aromatic Nitrogen-Containing Compounds of the Zelinsky Institute have published a chapter in the book “Heterocycles: Synthesis, Catalysis, Sustainability, and Characterization”, a reference book on a wide range of topics related to heterocyclic chemistry, with a particular focus on reliable and environmentally friendly synthetic methods. The part prepared by scientists from the ZIOC is devoted to dearomatization reactions, which in recent decades have become one of the most powerful tools for the transformation of simple aromatic substrates into various structurally complex systems. The chapter discusses approaches based on addition (or cycloaddition) to aromatic hydrocarbons and heterocycles with the formation of a new heterocyclic ring.
