Researchers of the ZIOC published a review on the use of microwave radiation for the synthesis of heterogeneous catalysts and catalytic hydrogenation processes

25 may 2023 г.

Currently, one of the promising methods for obtaining heterogeneous catalysts is microwave synthesis, the undoubted advantages of which are uniform heat transfer in the sample volume, resulting in uniform nucleation and short crystallization time of particles, as well as high energy efficiency, a single-stage process, and a high yield of nanostructured particles compared to traditional methods used to obtain catalysts. Microwave radiation is also widely used in various chemical reactions in order to intensify them and carry out processes within the framework of "green" chemistry approaches.

Scientists from the Laboratory for the Development and Research of Polyfunctional Catalysts of the ZIOC published a review article summarizing the results of modern research on the use of microwave radiation for the synthesis of heterogeneous catalysts. The review considers the problems and prospects of microwave radiation in the field of catalytic hydrogenation of various substrates. It can be assumed that the interconnection of rapidly developing modern scientific and engineering developments with the use of microwave heating will make it possible to create highly efficient catalytic nanomaterials and energy efficient processes in accordance with the principles of “green” chemistry.

The review was prepared within the framework of the Megagrant project 075-15-2021-591 and the Russian Science Foundation grant 20-73-10106.
